Hebrews 10:1-14; Forgiven and set free once for all

What an amazing plan.  The Lord instituted the Old Testament law (aka the Old covenant)as a form of religious expression that, while cherished by its practitioners (see David Psalm 19:7ff), was ultimately designed to reveal to all of us our shortcomings/sin/need for forgiveness (10:1).  Enter the New Testament/covenant which says of Jesus “He takes away the first (Old covenant) in order to establish the second (New covenant).  By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus once for all” (10:10).  What an amazing and secure promise of the absolute perfection and extent of Jesus’ self sacrifice on our behalf to make us right with God once for all.  No more guilt, No more shame, No more wandering.  “For by one offering He (Jesus) has perfected for all time those (believers) who are sanctified (made new and growing to maturity)” (10:14).  For those of us who have come face to face with our shortcomings, we can appreciate what it means to be made completely brand new.  For those who are facing shortcomings in despair, have hope.  Jesus stands ready to make you completely right with God if you will let Him.  We are all works in process, but this process fueled by new life in Christ has an unlimited transformation potential.
