1 Peter 1:1-9; blessed beyond belief

Having concluded James by looking at the relationship between faith, prayer and health, we come to the writings of Peter.  He starts by identifying his audience as aliens scattered throughout the region of Asia minor.  But they and we are special in that God chose us, based on His foreknowledge, to be partakers of the heavenly blessings in Jesus Christ.  And look at these amazing blessings:  sanctifed, forgiven, blessed, born again to living hope, obtained inheritance, protected and persevered.  He reminds us that we may have trials, but that by persevering through these trials our faith will be strengthened.  In reflecting on how the Lord blesses us His people, we remain amazed at His faithful commitment to us.
