1 Peter 2:9-12; A picture of grace

These verses remind us of the amazing grace of God.  Unlike any other religion (where people are seeking to find God through acts of their own), faith in Christ is ultimately about the God of the universe reaching out to us in our lostness and ignorance and bestowing upon us love, forgiveness, understanding and new life.  We are “God’s own possession” who have been called by Him “out of darkness into His marvelous light”.  Their is no amount of discipline, intelligence or activity that brings us initially to God…He simply reaches in and blesses us.  That is grace and that is always a fresh and encouraging message to those lost in the confusion of the world.  And it is a refreshing reminder to me who daily appreciates God’s act of grace to me.  Dave Koz and Dana Glover capture this picture of grace in this tune “Start All Over Again”.  Check out the biblical allusions in verse 2 and the bridge (sun=son?, behold all things are new).   I do not know if this was purposeful but it sure is beautiful.  http://www.youtube.com/v/QiL_HWy8puA?version=3″><param
