Isaiah 1:1-20; A call to repentance

Israel and Judah are in rebellion against the Lord.  Though they have seen Him and known Him they “revolt and do not understand”.  This is alot like us.  God shows Himself to us in so many ways; provision, protection, blessings, purpose, yet it is so easy to take for granted all that He does for us.   Isaiah says in verse 5, ” the whole head is sick and the whole heart is faint” (physical representation and even manifestation of spiritual disease).  In verses 10 -17 Isaiah then paints a vivid picture of the Lord’s patient call to us…Hear [my] words…and instruction, do away with empty religion, wash yourselves from evil deeds, reach out to others.  In verses 18-20 as our heart softens in this way He then offers us new life, changed and forgiven hearts and reward.  What amazing promises.
