Isaiah 43:8-28; Characteristics of Israel’s God

God, through Isaiah, reminds the nation of Israel (and thus spiritual Israel, New Testament believers) that they have been chosen as His servant to be the historical messengers to the world regarding the nature of God.  Without that message look at how we struggle with finding out who God is.  The Grecian polytheism of Acts 17, the agnosticism of Pontius Pilate, the functional atheism of modern materialistic society.  So who are you, God?  Look at my servant (43:10), He says, “so you can know and believe Me and understand that I am He”.  Not that this servant reflects the nature of God in their being, they don’t, as any servant is only a sinful enounterer of the Holy God.  But look at how God has used this servant and then we can see who God is.  God has declared, saved and proclaimed through His servant Israel (vs 12).  He has destroyed the mighty man (vs 14ff).  He forgives shortcoming and renews hearts (vs 22ff).  That is (at least in part) who God is…

I really like what you have acquired here, really like what you’re saying and the way in which you say it. You make it enjoyable and you still take care of to keep it wise.
