Aortic Stenosis and statin therapy; lipids

A recent journal article looked at the effect of statin therapy on the progression of aortic stenosis in younger people with congenital cause for aortic stenosis.  This has long been a hypothesis, namely that statins can slow the calcification and progression of narrowing of the aortic valve in people predisposed to aortic stenosis.  However the study found that statins did not slow the progression of aortic stenosis.  The study reference (no link) is here:   Am J Cardiol. 2011 Jul 15;108(2):265-71.
