Isaiah 55; A call and a promise to truth seekers

In this chapter Isaiah calls those who thirst and seek to listen, turn and then find life for their soul.  The imagery here is powerful.  To those who thirst to know God, to know something more than simply the here and now Jesus says (in direct fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophetic words) to the woman at the well in John 4, “whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again.  The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life”.    To those who seek to know and then turn to God,  promises follow.  God has compassion,  pardons,  gives joy and peace and sustains.

I appreciate the link between what is promised in Isaiah and the application in John 4. Jesus offers hope, purpose and fulfillment to a women whose life appeared completely empty and pointless.
