Isaiah 60; Maintaining a witness

This is a powerful chapter in reminding God’s people that our relationship with God, God in us, not only can be but will be a witness to the world.  In reminding physical Israel (and by adoption, all of spiritual Israel) that “your light has come and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you” (verse 1), God promises that “nations will come to your light and kings to the brightness of your rising” (verse 3).  Evangelism can take the shape of God’s Word spoken and proclaimed as well as God’s Word exhibited in His chosen people.  In both cases, “the nations all gather and come to you” (verse 4).  God’s sovereign activity in His people brings this harvest and blessing to pass.  Lord help us to be faithful to your call and activity in our lives so that we may experience this in our fellowships…
