Isaiah 66; The uncontainable sovereign God

For the last 9 months we have walked through the book of Isaiah.  We are now on the final chapter.  In this chapter the Lord says to Isaiah, “heaven is My throne and earth is My footstool.  Where then is a house you could build for Me?”  The person and greatness of our God is so transcendent that He reminds us that even the most architecturally amazing cathedrals can’t even begin to symbolize or contain Him.  But God says that while “things” do not impress Him, what does impress Him is a “humble and contrite spirit and [one] who trembles at My (God’s) word.”   To this person He promises peace and fulfillment.
