Philippians 2:1-4; Paul calls the Philippians to selflessness

Continuing with the idea of “fellowship attitudes”, Paul now entreats the Philippian church to humility and selflessness.  For us this is often easier said than done.  It is so easy to have a blind spot when called to “humility of mind” and to “consider others as more important than oneself”.  But if this is hard to do, and it is, the upcoming verses share the supreme example in the Lord’s emptying Himself for us.  In the meantime, we need the power and wisdom of the Spirit to teach us to be like this in a world that may perceive this as weakness and exploit it.
