Proverbs 3:1-4; The value of parent’s instruction

Proverbs 3 begins with a reminder to “my son” from his father (1:8) “not to forget my teaching”.  The father in this context is Solomon but these reminders can apply to any sons and daughters whose earthly fathers (parents) meet the faith criteria of Proverbs 1:1-7, especially exhibiting “the fear of the Lord”.  As children listening to parents such as this, look at the amazing promises: length of days and years of life (3:2), peace (3:2) and finding favor in the sight of God and man (3:4).  So often we pray for God’s protection and while He does supernaturally provide it, our practical obedience to and reception of promises such as these provides an avenue for God’s protection and blessing in our lives also.
