Proverbs 5-7; Relational and vocational reminders

These chapters written by Solomon to “my son” are vivid warnings for those tempted by relational indiscretion.  It does not appear that “the son” is married in these verses but he is definitely being tempted by one who is, “the adulteress”.  Solomon shows us that relationships which violate marriage vows definitely have health consequences (5:9-11) compared to relationships that stay within marriage’s boundary (5:15-19).  Additionally we are reminded about the dangers of laziness (6:6-11).  The rest of chapters 6 and 7 reiterate the importance of boundaries within marriage relationships.  These reminders may seem archaic to our modern culture but this wisdom is tried and true, going to deeper understanding than cultural trends could ever reach.
