In these verses, Solomon sets up 3 specific contrasting character quality sets and the attitudes which distinguish between them. Righteous verses wicked, wise verses foolish and rich verses poor groups of people are looked at to see how they ended up in their respective camps, As compared with the wicked, the righteous ones are open about their blessings, remembered fondly, have mouths which are fountains of life, have life giving wages, have tongues of “choice silver”, have life giving hope, will never be shaken and have mouths of wisdom. The wise receive commands and store up knowledge. The rich build fortresses out of wealth. These are not necessarily innate behaviors, but in the power of the Lord and with his guidance from the word, we can learn to apply them.
